About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Basse-English phone interpreter to work remotely. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render accurate translations of conversations between Basse and English speakers
• Conduct interpreting sessions in a quiet and secure environment
• Adapt to various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law
• Provide cultural competency and sensitivity in interpreting sessions
• Work in a diverse environment and handle emotionally charged calls
• Follow client instructions and maintain confidentiality

Requirements

• Fluency in Basse and English
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Cultural competency and ability to understand regional accents
• Ability to remain calm and professional during interpreting sessions
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write in the requested languages (highly preferred)

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old
• Must be able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements
• Must have access to a quiet space and a reliable internet connection
• Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse
• Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs
• Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write
• Must be able to operate company-provided software and systems

• Strong language skills in Basse and English

• Professional demeanor and ability to remain calm under pressure
• Technical proficiency with company-provided software and systems
