About the Role
In this role, you'll be a key part of our team, ensuring that every guest leaves with a lasting impression. Your voice matters here—use it to build the future, make an impact, and continuously improve the guest experience. As the Banquet Captain, you are responsible for effectively acting as an authority/go-to person in the absence of the Banquet Manager. To provide guests with quality food and service in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Possesses extensive professional knowledge and expertise in their specific function
- Assignments and projects are in-depth and extensive in scope and complexity
- Makes decisions within specific guidelines
- Introduce yourself to contact person of event, make sure their requests are clear and properly executed by staff. Follow BEO requirements
- Maintain proper uniform; clean and free of excessive wrinkles
- Set up banquet room(s) as instructed including linen and china
- Follow health and safety practices at all times
- All prep work must be completed prior to event start time
- Serve food and/or beverage; ensuring consistency throughout event
- Respond promptly to any guest request
- Set up buffets (as needed) to the standards established by the restaurant management
- Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude and mannerism
- Maintain clear and open communication between all staff for overall event success
- During event, maintain all work areas including any side work duties for overall productivity and success of the event
- Keep tally all consumed beverages and food items and any AV equipment used for event. Ring out BEO and provide the copy to sales/catering staff for payment
- Respect all of your co-workers and managers
- Have fun at work; leave baggage at the door; come to work with a positive attitude ready and willing to help create a fun and memorable experience for our guests
- Once banquet is complete, all linen, silverware, china and trays must be removed from space
Requirements
- One year or more banquet serving work history preferred
- Experience in hotel environment desired
- Previous banquet service required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Some level of management skills desired
- Refined verbal and written communication
- Be able to keep up with a fast paced environment
- Be able to carry tray to shoulder weighing up to 30 lbs without assistance
- Stand and/or walk entire shift
- Must be available nights and weekends
- U.S. Work Authorization (mandatory requirement)
