About The Role The Connect team at Quo is the gateway for all integrations and communications that interact with our platform without human intervention. This includes the public API, MCP, OAuth, webhooks, and integrations with popular tools like HubSpot, Jobber, and Clio. As the first dedicated staff member on this team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and strategy of our API ecosystem. Your work will directly influence the scalability, reliability, and functionality of our platform, supporting our mission to enable seamless integrations and automation for our customers. This role involves building robust systems, establishing strong relationships across teams, and acting as the technical voice for API-related initiatives. You will own the long-term architecture, guide product teams in API design, and ensure our platform remains fast, reliable, and observable as traffic continues to grow. Your expertise will help accelerate the development of SDKs in Python and TypeScript, and you will mentor senior engineers through design reviews and technical coaching. Qualifications 10+ years of engineering experience, with a focus on real-time systems and API development.Proven experience owning or building public APIs, developer platforms, SDKs, or webhooks for commercial products.Strong background in cross-team collaboration and leading large-scale technical initiatives in organizations with 80+ engineers.Hands-on experience with infrastructure and application code, including cloud environments and microservices architecture.Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, or others relevant to API development.Excellent communication skills, capable of building rapport across diverse teams and stakeholders.Experience navigating growth-stage companies, particularly from Series B to scale-up phases, is highly desirable. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain the API platform architecture to support rapid feature deployment and scalability.Develop relationships across teams to enable quick integration of new features via the API ecosystem.Guide product teams in API design, ensuring clarity, consistency, and future-proofing.Act as the technical liaison for partnerships, product, and leadership regarding API capabilities and roadmap alignment.Mentor senior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching to foster a high-performing engineering culture.Maintain platform performance, reliability, and observability as API traffic continues to increase.Lead infrastructure ownership and contribute to the growth and stability of the team's technical environment.
