Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer
About the Role
Don Johnson's Ladysmith Motors is looking for a high-performing Automotive Service Advisor to join our service team in Ladysmith. This role is also commonly known as a Service Writer or Service Consultant. You’ll be the trusted connection between our guests and our technicians: listening carefully, writing clear repair orders, explaining vehicle needs, communicating updates, and delivering a service experience people remember for the right reasons.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and create a positive first impression.
- Listen to vehicle concerns and document them clearly.
- Review service history and recommend factory-scheduled maintenance.
- Write accurate repair orders for technicians.
- Prepare and communicate estimates, timelines, and repair recommendations.
- Explain technician findings in a clear, helpful, and professional way.
- Keep guests updated throughout the repair process.
- Coordinate with technicians, parts, and service leadership.
- Review completed repair orders for accuracy and proper authorization.
- Help ensure each guest receives a great experience with no regrets.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record under company insurance requirements.
- Previous automotive service experience is preferred, but we are also open to the right person with strong experience in customer service, sales, hospitality, or leadership.
Preferred backgrounds include: Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Service Consultant, dealership service department, customer service, sales, hospitality, scheduling or dispatching, repair order writing, or vehicle maintenance knowledge. Automotive knowledge, dealership experience, or manufacturer training is a plus.
