About the role

V2X is seeking an Automotive Aftermarket Instructor to facilitate Instructor Led Training courses. The ideal candidate will mentor and coach entry-level and advanced automotive service technicians, providing technical training in a variety of formats.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical training virtually and in-person through seminar style, small group coaching, and hands-on sessions.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders to schedule training within assigned market area.
  • Provide technical diagnostic assistance to technicians via phone as necessary.
  • Effectively demonstrate on-vehicle diagnosis/repair procedures and objectively evaluate diagnostic skills and aptitude of service technicians.
  • Provide automotive subject matter expertise in support of the design and development of training content for various media types including video, web-based, seminar, hands-on, and certification.
  • Work 25% to 50% overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years automotive technician experience.
  • Minimum of five years automotive instructor or public speaking experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current ASE Certified Master A1 – A8 Automobile Technician (must be obtained within first year of employment).
  • ASE A9, L1, L3, L4 and Section 609 certifications (must be obtained within first year of employment).
  • Proficient with automotive service information and diagnostic support software.
  • Ability to work skillfully with highly technical diagnostic equipment, including scan tools, lab scopes, DVOMs, HVAC equipment, vibration diagnostic equipment, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; working with customers and coworkers in a team setting.
  • Excellent working knowledge in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Desired experience with aftermarket parts and supplier processes/standards.

Compensation

$80,000 to $100,000 depending on experience and active certifications.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an automotive shop setting. Exposure to automotive fumes, fluids, noise, smells, sharp edges or bump hazards may occur. Continuous use of personal protective equipment is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending.
  • Moving materials weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis such as automotive components and equipment, as well as papers, files, boxes, computers, etc.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination required for operating equipment such as a computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment.
