About the role
Join a BYD dealership as an EV Apprentice and gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge electric vehicle technology while completing a Level 2 Autocare Technician Apprenticeship, with progression to the Level 3 Motor Vehicle Technician standard. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians in one of the UK’s largest automotive retail groups, Evans Halshaw, which operates over 100 dealerships nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Learn all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance, including servicing, MOT preparation, and component overhaul
- Assist with diagnostics, fault finding, and electrical system repairs
- Support the maintenance and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles
- Perform vehicle inspections and servicing
- Follow safe working practices, particularly around EV systems
- Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop
- Contribute to health and safety in the workplace
Qualifications
- GCSE Level 4 or above in Maths and English
Skills & Personal Qualities
- A genuine interest in cars and electric vehicles
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to prioritise and work to timelines
- Willingness to work in a practical environment using initiative
- A full UK driving licence is preferred but not essential

Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm (40 hours per week).
Training & Assessment
Training is delivered through GTG via block release weeks. Regular assessments and reviews will take place in your workplace with dedicated mentors to ensure you gain the skills needed to complete your apprenticeship.
