Automotive Technician Apprentice
Job Summary
Herb Connolly Chevrolet is seeking an Automotive Technician Apprentice to join their team. The ideal candidate should have a background in automotive and experience with light mechanical work and fluid exchanges. Daily responsibilities include lube, oil, and filter changes, rotating tires, and other light maintenance tasks. The apprentice will also be expected to diagnose and repair vehicles under the guidance of master technicians.
Responsibilities
- Test systems and components for security and functionality
- Isolate potential issues and conduct tests as necessary
- Drive vehicles for testing and refill fluid levels as needed
- Ensure proper tire pressure and maintain cleanliness of fittings
- Install new oil drain plugs and filters, communicating oil levels to teammates
- Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing and repairing vehicles
- Replace worn parts before they cause breakdowns or damage
- Utilize power tools, machine tools, and hand tools for various tasks
Qualifications
- Ability to learn new technologies, repair procedures, and service specifications
- Experience operating electronic diagnostic equipment
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- American Society of Automotive Engineers (ASE) Certification or Technical degree (preferred)
- One year of experience in a service department
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
