About the role

The Auto Case Packer, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of snack packaging machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Read production schedule and plan accordingly.
  • Maintain the operation of packaging machinery by monitoring codes, dates, and prices.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of roll stock and all packaging materials are available for each machine.
  • Adjust machine micro logic set-up as needed to maintain an efficient and low-waste operation.
  • Demonstrate skills involved in efficiently operating packaging equipment, including machine setups, changeovers, proper running, procedural adjustments, sanitation cleanup, and shutdown.
  • Plan ahead for machine changeovers and efficiently change from one product item to another.
  • Monitor and adjust each machine to ensure proper cut-off of film and bags have proper end seals and back seals.
  • Ensure machines are running at standard speeds.
  • Monitor and check weights and product appearance as required.
  • Account for product run-off, sort through, and rework all good product.
  • Keep machines and work areas clean; wipe packaging machines and blow down the area when required.
  • Immediately report any maintenance problems to Maintenance Mechanic or Supervisor.
  • Practice and adhere to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
  • Store supplies in designated areas; keep work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstruction; remove trash from work area floor.
  • Follow instructions for safe lifting/carrying of various sizes, shapes, and weights; identify/report issues with equipment; report all job-related injuries to supervision.
  • May provide leadership and direction to packers.
  • May be qualified to perform as Back-up Packaging Coordinator or other technical/skilled positions.
  • If applicable, monitor and replenish seasoning on overhead to ensure proper seasoning coverage on product.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Must comply with the physical demands of constantly lifting and moving stock by hand or with manual equipment (including pallet jacks and forklifts).
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs. on a regular basis, and occasionally lift/move more than 50+ lbs. with mechanical or peer assistance.

Pay

Base rate per hour: $20.45. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.

Schedule

  • Night Shift - 12-hour - 2-2-3 Schedule (Work every other weekend).
  • Hours: 5:45 PM until 6 AM.
