Attorney IV
About the role
The Attorney IV position within the Circular Economy and Regulations Development Section of the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) provides legal services, including legal research, analysis, and recommendations related to complex and sensitive issues. This includes the development of program regulations and administrative enforcement.
Responsibilities

- Perform the most difficult and complex legal work within the Circular Economy and Regulations Development Section.
- May require in-person presence.
Requirements
Under general supervision of the Assistant Chief Counsel within the Circular Economy and Regulations Development Section, and the general direction of the Chief Counsel within the Legal Affairs Office, the Attorney IV is responsible for providing legal services, including legal research, analysis, and recommendations related to complex and sensitive issues. These positions will involve development of program regulations and administrative enforcement. The Attorney IV may personally perform the most difficult and complex legal work within the Circular Economy and Regulations Development Section. Some of these duties will require in-person presence.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).
Skills
Knowledge and familiarity with the California environmental regulatory laws, especially with regard to those related to extended producer responsibility. Experience as an attorney in regulatory enforcement, litigation, or administrative adjudication.
