Essential Job Functions
- Aids police in the investigation of criminal offenses.
- Provides legal opinions to police regarding investigations.
- Conducts legal research and writes opinions.
- Advises police on the drafting of criminal complaints, search warrants, and statements of probable cause.
- Evaluates evidence for propriety of criminal charges and search warrants.
- Reviews and signs criminal information.
- Assembles and evaluates evidence, interviews witnesses, and prepares them for court appearances.
- Represents the Commonwealth in preliminary hearings, pre-trial motions, pre-trial conferences, trials, and appeals.
- Interacts with other law enforcement agencies and local individuals and organizations.
- Upholds ethical duties to seek justice in all cases.
- Provides community prosecution outreach to assigned police jurisdictions.
- Performs special duties as assigned by the District Attorney.
- Attends continuing education courses on law enforcement and related issues.
- Attends meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
- Performs public service work within the County, such as participating in mock trials for educational purposes.
Education
- Juris doctor degree and admission to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
- Continuing legal education required.
Work Experience
- One to two years’ relevant experience.
- Experience handling misdemeanor and minor felony cases, without supervision.
