About the role

The Garden City, New York, office of Hall Booth Smith, P.C. (HBS) is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its expanding General Liability practice group. The ideal candidate for this position will have 5-8 years’ experience in general civil practice/negligence defense work, with working knowledge of insurance coverage, automobile negligence and premises liability litigation. Position will include your own caseload, including depositions, court and arbitration hearings, court appearances, motions, and general legal research. Experience in arbitration practices/procedures and strong writing skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload, including depositions, court and arbitration hearings, court appearances, motions, and general legal research.
  • Work closely with clients to provide knowledgeable, proactive, client-specific counsel.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in negligence defense and insurance coverage.

Requirements

  • Active member in good standing of the New York Bar.
  • Experience in general civil practice/negligence defense work.
  • Working knowledge of insurance coverage, automobile negligence, and premises liability litigation.
  • Experience in arbitration practices/procedures is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills.

Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.

Pay

$150k+ depending on experience (plus benefits).
