Primary job responsibilities

  • Reviewing the Department's contracts and grants and certifying them for legal sufficiency
  • Providing legal guidance on procurement, vendor transitions, and regulatory and contract compliance
  • Participating during vendor bid protests
  • Performing risk assessments
  • Assisting with public records requests and rulemaking projects

Position requirements

  • Weekly in-office time required
  • This is a contract position not eligible for state employee benefits
  • The successful candidate should obtain their own professional liability insurance

Minimum qualifications

  • Familiarity with the State's procurement process and rulemaking procedures
  • Able to manage and prioritize a large volume of work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborate and work in a team environment
  • Prior HIPAA experience
  • Ensure the needs of customers and clients are met
  • JD, admitted to TN Bar with a license in good standing, at least 1 year of relevant legal experience preferred
