Responsibilities
- Assist with the prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning of athletic injuries as set forth by the National Athletic Trainer Association Board of Certification.
- Demonstrate competency in taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment and ability to carry out prescribed treatments and recommendations by referring providers.
- Perform responsibilities as a physician extender in the clinic.
- Provide coverage as assigned at MCHS supported athletic events, at contracted schools/community groups for pre-season events, athletic practices, and/or sporting events.
- Deliver preventative care and treatment to athletes within the scope of their licenses.
- Serve as a liaison of Mayo Clinic Health System to collaborate with schools and the community.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Participate in operational aspects of the department, performance improvement activities, and quality improvement projects.
- Participate in all infection control, departmental equipment training, and organizational safety and fire safety programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science/Arts or Master’s degree in Athletic Training and certification by the Board of Certification and National Athletic Trainer’s Association.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy, and physiology.
- Basic knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance, and repairs.
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Team-building skills.
- Flexibility with scheduled days and hours of work.
- Current State of Wisconsin Athletic Trainer license and Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Current BLS certification.
- Driver’s License may be required depending on location of hire.

Schedule
- Full Time
- Hours/Pay Period: 80
- Schedule Details: Primarily hours are a mix of morning clinical hours in the Orthopedic setting as needed and afternoons/evenings in the high school setting. Coverage based on high school assignment and specific contracted needs.
- Weekend Schedule: As needed/scheduled based on athletic schedules.
