Athletic Trainer - Outreach

About the Role

IBJI is seeking Certified Athletic Trainers to work in clinical, collegiate, and high school settings within a collaborative healthcare model. ATCs are integral to a fast-paced orthopedic practice, functioning as liaisons between patients, athletes, physicians, physical therapists, and administration. The role focuses on providing superior patient care, athletic training coverage, and public education on health-related topics.

Responsibilities

• Promote and provide excellent patient care
• Develop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI
• Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, coaches, and parents regarding patient conditions, plan of care, treatments, and protocols
• Develop rehabilitation and treatment regimens in conjunction with physician recommendations
• Proper referral of patients for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking
• Compliance with completing daily paperwork and maintaining patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Participate in programs sponsored by IBJI: clinical meetings, mentoring, clinical educator, special interest groups, community outreach
• Prevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic injuries for patients and athletes of varying ages
• Demonstrate good understanding of proper body mechanics
• Perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing
• Provide medical coverage at games, practices, and/or tournaments as an outreach ATC; events may include weekend and/or evening hours
• Return voicemail and email messages in a timely manner
• Attend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing
• Follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations at all times
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program
• BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
• Hold or be eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing
• Strong rehabilitation skill set preferred
• Additional manual therapy or sports performance background preferred, but not required
• Experience working in a physician or physical therapy clinic preferred, but not required
• Knowledge in medical terminology preferred
• Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Able to function as a team leader
• Stand or sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds
• Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing
• Ability to stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes
• Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day

Pay

$45.00–50.00/hour based on skills/experience
