Athletic Assistant Coach Varsity Soccer

About the Role

The Athletic Assistant Coach supports the head coach in varsity soccer within the guidelines, rules, and regulations of the National Federation of High Schools, the Arizona Interscholastic Association, the Diocese of Phoenix, Xavier College Preparatory, and the athletic department. This role operates under the supervision of the principal and athletic director.

Responsibilities

• Assists the head coach in instructing athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and training to achieve individual and team success while promoting the Pursuing Victory with Honor Program.
• Maintains discipline, handles grievances, and works to increase morale and cooperation among athletes and staff.
• Assists in developing and supervising the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques taught by the coaching staff, and evaluates staff performance and program functionality.
• Ensures the safety of the sports venue and that all equipment is regulation-compliant, safe, properly maintained, and inventoried.
• Coordinates supervision of student-athletes in all areas of play, locker rooms, and other venues used by the sport.
• Maintains open communication with faculty, staff, and parents regarding the sport and advises student-athletes on academics, college recruiting, and scholarship applications in collaboration with the athletic director and guidance staff.
• Performs other job-related tasks as requested by the principal or athletic director.

Requirements

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Must meet Diocese of Phoenix employment requirements, including completion of Safe Environment Training and signing the Code of Conduct.
• FBI Fingerprint clearance completed.
• Preference given to Catholic teachers.
• Current Arizona State driver’s license is desirable.
• Must be in good physical condition.
