Asst/Assoc Professor - Department of Internal Medicine

About the Role

We are looking for a physician to diagnose and treat a wide range of internal medicine conditions with the potential to specialize in a subspecialty area such as cardiology, critical care, endocrinology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, oncology, or nephrology. Rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides medical care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients.
• Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families.
• Determines level of urgency for follow-up, referral, or consultation appointments.
• Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
• Orders studies, tests, and ancillary services.
• Documents all services in the patient medical record.
• Consults with other departments and medical staff professionals regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
• Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by hospital or clinic requirements.
• Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, patient care, research, and service.
• Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
• Teaches internal medicine residents, outside rotators, NPs, PAs, and medical students through lectures and clinical/hospital settings.

Occasional Duties: Providing coverage for faculty within the department as requested or needed.

Requirements

• Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ACGME Internal Medicine Residency Program.
• Must hold or be eligible for ABIM board certification (or in training to become board eligible).
• Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.
