Associate Tenure-Track Professor - Engineering Technology

This is a 9-month tenure-track position located on Tarleton's main campus in Stephenville, Texas. Summer appointment is dependent upon need and funding availability. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM, or as required by teaching and operational needs. The position may involve teaching at various campus locations or through approved instructional modalities.
About the role
The Department of Engineering Technology seeks candidates with 5-10 years of industry experience and teaching expertise in hands-on laboratory courses in two or more of the following areas: CNC machining, CAD, industrial materials, tooling, metal foundry, composites fabrication, electrical and electronics fabrication, and electronic chip manufacturing.
Responsibilities include teaching and developing face-to-face courses with extensive laboratory work in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs. Assignments may also include teaching online undergraduate engineering technology courses.
Responsibilities
- Teaching and Service (60%):
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students, including general education core curriculum.
- Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, and papers.
- Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
- Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
- Provide academic support and guidance through office hours, assignment feedback, and mentoring.
- Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student engagement.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field and improve teaching skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings and contribute to program development.
- Participate in institutional service roles, including college committees, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.
- Support accreditation efforts of academic programs.
- Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (40%):
- Maintain an active agenda for research, scholarship, or creative activity appropriate to the academic discipline.
- Make original contributions to the advancement of knowledge through scholarly publication, presentation, or exhibition.
- Demonstrate potential for external funding, national impact, or professional recognition.
Requirements
- Earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university, with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
- Five to ten years of industrial experience in the applicable field(s).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Distinguished record warranting a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
