Job Duties
- Analyze survey data independently to generate precise, standard-compliant highway project plans.
- Formulate alignments, drainage, striping layouts, and super elevations using AASHTO, MUTCD, and DOTD manuals.
- Prepare detailed project specifications using the latest DOTD Standard Specifications.
- Supervise daily operations, delegate technical assignments, and review subordinate work for accuracy.
- Cookordination with survey crews, utilities, contractors, and public agencies to gather project data.
- Conduct performance evaluations, deliver technical training, and provide conflict resolution for subordinates.
- Participate in structured training and required continuing education.
- Support emergency/disaster response activities when needed.
Compensation
- Annual Salary of $57,242.00 - $103,064.00.
- Premium Pay of an additional $1.00/hourly for every hour worked.

Schedule
Appointment Type: Promotional. This position is open only to current permanent classified DOTD employees and may be filled by detail to special duty.
Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus five years of sub-professional engineering experience.
- Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus five years of sub-professional engineering experience.
- Thirty semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.
