Associate Substance Use Disorder (ASUD) Counselor

Location: Independence, MO (Multiple Kansas City-area locations) Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite Schedule: Day Shift Setting: Outpatient Behavioral Health / Substance Use Disorder Treatment Job Overview We are seeking an Associate Substance Use Disorder (ASUD) Counselor to support individuals experiencing substance use challenges through counseling, recovery education, assessments, and case management. This is a training-level opportunity offering clinical supervision and professional development toward Registered Alcohol Drug Counselor (RASAC) certification. Prior substance use counselor certification is not required. Key Responsibilities Conduct client screenings, intake interviews, and assessments.Assist with treatment planning, recovery goals, and progress monitoring.Provide individual and group counseling and substance use education.Support case management, crisis intervention, and referrals.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and confidential client records.Coordinate care with treatment teams and community service providers.Attend clinical supervision, staff meetings, and required training.Work across assigned locations and transport clients when required. Requirements High school diploma or GED.At least two years of successful work experience.Understanding of recovery through education, work experience, or personal recovery experience.Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.Ability to work with diverse populations, maintain confidentiality, and accept supervision.Willingness to complete training and certification requirements toward RASAC certification.Must pass required background screening and meet applicable employment requirements.Valid driver's license and automobile insurance if driving is required.
