About the role
The Associate, Corporate Strategy & Development is a key contributor to ECRI’s strategic agenda, working in close partnership with the Executive Director of Transformation and Innovation to advance ECRI’s mission to reduce preventable harm and promote safe and effective care for all. This role drives strategic initiatives, market intelligence, and corporate development activities, translating rigorous analysis into actionable recommendations that shape organizational direction. The position is high-visibility, with direct exposure to senior leadership, and is designed for a quantitatively rigorous, self-directed professional who structures complex problems with analytical precision and produces independently.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Initiative Rollout:
- Partner with cross-functional teams across ECRI’s business lines—including consulting, product development, marketing, government affairs, and the enterprise PMO—to execute new initiatives from concept through delivery.
- Collaborate with process owners and stakeholders to scope workstreams, track milestones, and ensure deliverables meet standards and deadlines.
- Contribute to defining, tracking, and reporting KPIs for strategic initiatives and priorities.
- Align initiatives with broader organizational strategy, considering market trends, client needs, and ECRI’s mission.
- Support business development by conducting targeted research and analysis to advance prospective clients through ECRI’s consultative services.
- Develop drafts and support leadership in refining materials for healthcare providers, payers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
- Manage preparation of RFP responses, thought leadership materials, and strategic briefings with relevant market and competitive context.
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and maintain ECRI’s multi-year strategic roadmap, including milestone tracking, dependency mapping, and progress reporting.
- Prepare strategic planning materials for executive leadership and board-level audiences, including presentations, briefings, and supporting analyses.
- Create focused strategy roadmaps (e.g., international expansion, infection prevention and control, health equity) by synthesizing research, stakeholder inputs, and market context.
- Monitor macro-level trends in U.S. and global healthcare—including regulatory, technological, reimbursement, and workforce trends—to inform planning.
- Support annual strategic planning cycles by facilitating data gathering, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and synthesizing findings into actionable outputs.
- Market & Competitive Intelligence:
- Independently conduct ongoing market research and analysis across ECRI’s key segments—health systems, ambulatory care, care at home, payers, government agencies, and life sciences—developing actionable conclusions without direction on scope or methodology.
- Develop and maintain competitive intelligence profiles for peer and competitor organizations, tracking service offerings, positioning, partnerships, financial performance, and strategic shifts.
- Curate and synthesize data from analyst reports (e.g., KLAS, Gartner, Forrester, CB Insights), earnings calls, trade publications, and primary sources to build a current picture of the healthcare safety and technology market.
- Track emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML in clinical decision support, health IT safety, patient safety platforms, medical device innovation) and assess their implications for ECRI’s positioning and service portfolio.
- Produce regular market intelligence briefings, sector updates, and performance dashboards for leadership and internal teams, delivering analyst-grade research to support strategy and business development.
- Corporate Development – Partnerships & Acquisitions:
- Support and execute due diligence activities, including transaction screening, organizational research, market positioning analysis, financial profiling, and capability mapping of potential targets.
- Synthesize findings into structured deal memoranda and analytical outputs to enable data-driven leadership decisions.
- Build analytical frameworks and financial models to assess strategic fit, market opportunity, benchmarks, and risk profiles of business development opportunities.
- Develop compelling business cases and transaction rationale documents, including pitchbooks and deal briefs, in coordination with senior leadership.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders—including Consulting, Legal, Finance, and Product teams—to gather inputs and build recommendation materials.
- Maintain a pipeline of business development prospects and track progress using CRM and project management tools.
Qualifications
- 3–6 years of professional experience in strategy, management consulting, corporate development, market intelligence, or a related field, with a focus on healthcare preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling.
- Ability to structure complex problems, synthesize data, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for executive audiences.
- Self-directed and proactive, with a track record of owning workstreams end-to-end and driving outcomes in fast-moving environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing executive-level presentations, briefings, and strategic documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with CRM or project management tools.
