Associate Practice Area Director I - Cx
We are currently seeking a performance-driven, highly motivated leader to collaborate with and grow our Commissioning team in the West region, with the opportunity to oversee this practice area. This role can be based in our Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Sacramento, CA office.
About the role
In this high-level role, you will lead efforts to pursue, win, and execute Commissioning projects for highly technical buildings and systems. You will provide management review and oversee our regional team, including developing business plans, target pursuits, and executing a wide variety of projects. This role reports to regional and practice area leadership and offers a dynamic work environment to advance your engineering career.

Responsibilities
- Build and manage a regional staff, coordinate execution of all commissioning activities, and maintain client satisfaction.
- Generate new revenue and increase existing revenue streams within the Commissioning Market Focus.
- Develop and deepen your network of prospective clients and business partners, including owners, architects, and PM/CM firms.
- Track leads for major pursuits, forecast a pipeline of projects, and develop winning strategies and teams.
- Stay abreast of regional and national market trends and keep the team at the technical forefront of the practice area.
- Develop an internal network to facilitate information sharing for staffing and project pursuits.
- Ensure technical excellence in project delivery and provide expert resolution of issues.
- Develop, review, and coordinate the regional practice area business plan with the global Commissioning team.
- Coordinate goals with other members of the global team to execute the business plan.
- Develop strategies to explore and penetrate new clients, increasing national sales and higher-margin work.
- Oversee project financials and interoffice/client reporting structures.
- Develop and articulate the firm’s value proposition to achieve market distinction.
- Lead and/or support sales presentations, focusing on selling integrated services.
- Act as an active leader and problem solver to guide teams and partners in delivering exceptional projects.
- Write articles, white papers, and speak at industry conferences and events.
- Strategically recruit senior staff with market-specific experience and provide leadership to direct reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering; exceptional candidates may substitute significant years of experience.
- 12+ years of commissioning experience, preferably with a minimum of 5 years in consulting engineering or an A/E firm.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience.
- 5+ years of experience developing business for commissioning engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of MEP systems.
- CXAP certification or PE registration required.
- Proven expertise in the Aviation/Transportation market focus within the industry.
- Effective team player with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pay
California Pay range: $99,255–$148,882 USD.
Schedule
Flexible hybrid schedule: Monday to Thursday in the office for 9 hours, Friday for 4 hours remotely from home.
