Associate Chaplain

About the role

The Associate Chaplain position is managed by the Spiritual Care Specialist in partnership with the Vice President of Mission Services to staff the Mission Services Department at their assigned hospitals. This department is responsible for the management and quality of religious and spiritual care of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members.

Responsibilities

• Respond in a timely manner to all requests for spiritual care and assistance.
• Assess the religious and spiritual needs of patients, families, and visitors, and address or assist in addressing these needs whenever possible.
• Offer spiritual support and guidance where appropriate.
• Adhere and ensure the mission is integrated with ethical values into patient care and spiritual care delivery.
• Partner with the Experience Department to provide a caring, compassionate experience for all patients, their families, and fellow team members, including documenting rounds on patients and staff and performing service recovery when needed.
• Provide support during a Hospital Emergency at the Incident Command, if needed, relative to their role of psychosocial support.
• Consistently demonstrate clinical excellence and professional standards, with a focus on achieving board certification.
• Identify and obtain necessary training for their chosen chaplain specialty.
• Develop research competency and engage in best practices utilized across the health system.
• Perform related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit.
• Endorsement or Commissioning by their own Faith Tradition, and in good standing with their Governing Body and Authority.
• Ordination in their Faith Tradition.
• Minimum of one (1) year in ministry with demonstrated competence in pastoral care.
• Previous pastoral care experience within healthcare preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Pay

Resurrection Medical Center offers competitive compensation. The reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $31.87 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
