Associate Chaplain

Department: Spiritual Care | Facility: Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital | Location: Evanston, IL 60201

Responsibilities

• Respond in a timely manner to all requests for spiritual care and assistance.
• Assess the religious and spiritual needs of patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff, and address or assist in addressing these needs.
• Offer spiritual support and guidance where appropriate.
• Ensure the mission is integrated with ethical values into patient care and spiritual care delivery.
• Partner with the Experience Department to provide a caring, compassionate experience for patients, families, and team members, including documenting rounds and performing service recovery when needed.
• Provide support during hospital emergencies at the Incident Command, focusing on psychosocial support.
• Demonstrate clinical excellence and professional standards, with a focus on achieving board certification.
• Identify and obtain necessary training for chosen chaplain specialty.
• Develop research competency and engage in best practices utilized across the health system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit.
• Endorsement or Commissioning by their own Faith Tradition, and in good standing with their Governing Body and Authority.
• Ordination in their Faith Tradition.
• Minimum of one (1) year in ministry with demonstrated competence in pastoral care.
• Previous pastoral care experience within healthcare preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Additional preferences:
  • Training by ACPE affiliate center.
  • Theological or Pastoral degree.
  • Demonstrated listening skills in pastoral care.

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $26.79 to $34.75 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.

Schedule

Part-time, over 59 hours per pay period. Shift is variable and requires flexibility during the week.
