Associate Attorney - Commercial Lending/Real Estate

About the role

Preti Flaherty, one of New England’s largest law firms with offices in ME, NH, MA, and Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced Attorney to join the firm’s dynamic and growing Corporate/Real Estate practice group. This hybrid position is based in our newly renovated headquarters in downtown Portland, ME, and offers an engaging roster of work in commercial real estate and finance on behalf of Preti’s local and national clients.

Responsibilities

• Handle matters that cross state, regional, and sometimes even national borders
• Work with attorneys in all Preti Flaherty’s offices on a broad range of issues and transactions
• Manage complicated matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree from an accredited law school
• Active bar membership (or anticipated) in Maine
• 4-6 years of experience in commercial lending and commercial real estate acquisitions/development/financing
• Experience in all phases of commercial loan and real estate transactions
• Experience with land use and permitting matters, title examinations, and title insurance preferred

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and teamwork
• Existing book of business a plus but not required

• Effective negotiation and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
