Assistant Supervisor, Clinical Lab Technologist 1, Chemistry & Immunology

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University’s Department of Clinical Laboratories is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1 in Chemistry and Immunology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory requirements.
• Function as Assistant Supervisor responsible for the operation of a laboratory.
• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, review quality control, and performance improvement activities.
• Perform clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by the chemistry and immunology labs.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting on chemistry and immunology instruments.
• Assure timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
• Train personnel in technical methodology and interpretation of results.
• Record and archive operational test and QC results.
• Maintain inventory and statistics.
• Schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
• Assist in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.
• Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job-related tasks as needed or required.

Requirements

• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
• Bachelor of Science Degree and 6 years of experience, including 2 years of supervisory/administrative capacity.
• ASCP certification or equivalent.
• Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years of supervisory experience in Chemistry and Hematology laboratories.
