Assistant Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Technologist I, Hematology & Urinalysis

Job Summary

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Technologist I, Hematology & Urinalysis. The successful candidate will:

• Adhere to departmental, hospital, and government regulations.
• Be in charge of and responsible for the operation of the laboratory.
• Be accountable for day-to-day laboratory operations, review quality control, and performance improvement activities.
• Oversee and conduct timely performance of specimen testing.
• Oversee and conduct recording and archiving test and QC results.
• Maintain inventory statistics.
• Be responsible for shifting staff around or assigning staff additional duties to maintain workflow smoothly.
• Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as business needs warrant and/or as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Sciences.
• New York State Medical Laboratory Technologist License.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of supervisory experience in Chemistry and Hematology laboratories preferred.
• ASCP Certification.
