Assistant Supervisor / Clinical Lab Technologist 1 (Chemistry & Immunology)

About the role

The Department of Clinical Laboratories, Chemistry & Immunology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Assistant Supervisor, responsible for the operations of the laboratory.
• Maintains compliance with departmental, hospital, and all regulatory requirements.
• Be in charge and responsible for the operation of the laboratory, and perform day to day laboratory operations, review quality control, and performance improvement activities.
• Timely performance of laboratory testing procedures.
• Train personnel in technical methodology and interpretation of results.
• Record and archive test and QC results.
• Maintain inventory and statistics.
• Determine the need to rotate staff or assign staff additional duties in order to maintain work flow smoothly; schedule and assign staff to specific job functions.
• Assistant in coordinating administrative operations for the laboratories.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Sciences or equivalent field.
• New York State Laboratory Technologist Licensure.
• 4+ years of experience in Chemistry and Immunology laboratories. Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training to the above.
• Preferred: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification preferred.
