About the role

The Assistant Account Manager assists the Account Manager with all supervisory, training, and operations functions at the assigned post in accordance with post orders and client instructions, following all internal procedures. To support success in this role, we provide a comprehensive, week-long management onboarding course designed to provide best practices, tools, and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of all aspects (technical and managerial) of executing the security contract at the assigned location under the direction of the Account Manager.
  • Assign work tasks to Security Professionals and direct their work throughout the day.
  • Serve as the first direct supervisory contact for shift supervisors (if applicable) or Security Professionals regarding performance, operations, and department needs.
  • Supervise, motivate, coach, and train Security Professionals, and evaluate their work performance, making recommendations regarding assignments.
  • Ensure the Post Order manual and all other post and training information are properly maintained, updated, and the post is clean and organized.
  • Assist the Account Manager in conducting interviews and evaluating new employees.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for new employees or when post order changes occur, including orientation, review of post orders, routine responsibilities, and emergency response procedures.
  • Oversee all reports, logs, and pass-downs generated by and for the Security Department; distribute communications and information as directed.
  • Manage and supervise all sub-units within the Security Department, such as fire control room, command center, and loading docks as applicable.
  • Generate work orders and attached paperwork for extra security coverage requests as needed.
  • Respond to minor incidents, ensuring appropriate action is taken, reports are completed, and relevant parties are notified in a timely manner.
  • Identify personnel problems (e.g., payroll issues, employee relations complaints) and forward them to the Account Manager or Field Supervisor; assist with investigations as directed.
  • Make recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary action, including termination, as directed by the Account Manager with prior HR approval.
  • Respond to client or site emergencies, ensuring appropriate communication to management.
  • Maintain positive client/security relationships through frequent tenant/client contact and support.
  • Occasionally perform Security Professional duties (e.g., standing post) but not exceeding 50% of time in any given workweek.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three to five years of professional-level experience required; prior experience in the security industry, law enforcement, and/or military required.
  • Must possess a valid state Guard License or apply and be issued one prior to employment.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test required; must maintain active Guard License status and carry it while on duty.
  • For driving positions: valid Driver’s License with at least one year of driving experience, clean driving record (no major violations in last 36 months, no more than 1 accident or minor moving violation in last 24 months), minimum insurance as required by Company policy, and ability to safely operate a vehicle.
  • Energetic and focused personality with demonstrated ability to take initiative, handle multiple competing assignments, and manage deadlines.
  • Strong customer service orientation with professionalism and ability to de-escalate situations.
  • Ability to train, coach, and enforce post orders, security standards, and company policies equitably and consistently.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels and with clients.
  • Must be available to work outside normal shift schedules as needed and be accessible 24/7 for emergency response.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College education or business classes.
  • Experience in scheduling, operations, or other security industry functions.
  • Ability to write effective and concise reports in neat, legible handwriting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and email.
