Job Summary
The Assistant Registrar for Compliance supports TCU's compliance with the NCAA program for student athletes and the VA certification process for eligible students. This includes certifying eligibility, academic progress, and reporting to relevant bodies; overseeing compliance for FERPA requests, directory holds, and guest access; and performing administrative tasks in PeopleSoft.
Certifications & Compliance
- Certifies eligibility of student athletes by reviewing transcripts, GPA’s, and other academic documents; certifies academic progress toward degree; compares student academic records with NCAA policies; keeps open communications between the Registrar’s Office and TCU Athletic Compliance Department.
- Completes NCAA reports for graduation by certifying each student athlete’s continuation or graduation; reviews and evaluates annual changes in NCAA certification rules; develops new procedures and/or new reports to facilitate adherence to the new/changed rules.
- Collaborates and communicates with the offices of Athletic Compliance and Athletic Academic Services; certifies eligibility of eligible military connected students by reviewing transcripts, GPA’s, and other academic documents; certifies academic progress toward degree; compares student academic records with VA policies; keeps open communications between the Registrar’s Office and the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Texas Veterans Commission.
- Compiles and submits all required reports for VA Compliance; responds to student and faculty inquiries by answering or referring inquiries and providing information and assistance; maintains authorization documents; writes queries; produces reports and documents including official transcripts.
Registrar Office Processes
- Oversees Registrar Office processes related to FERPA requests, directory holds, and guest access; runs processes in PeopleSoft in support of office functions.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3 years’ experience in a compliance/certification environment in higher education, applying and interpreting mandated rules and regulations, and proficiency in using specialized software.
- Strong experience in PeopleSoft/Oracle Campus Solutions, including the use of PS Query, and compliance software, such as the NCAA’s Compliance Assistant and/or VA Once.
