Assistant Property Manager Richmond, Virginia
Weinstein Properties, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, owns and manages over 60 apartment communities across Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia. Still owned and operated by the Weinstein family after 70+ years, our success is driven by a hands-on approach to daily operations and a focus on the customer experience.
About the role
This position supports one of our beautiful communities in the Henrico, West End, or Goochland areas. Placement is based on your location and property needs.
The Assistant Property Manager handles front-line resident services, team collaboration, fast-paced learning, and persuasive communication in challenging situations. Leadership or management experience is required, with property management experience a plus—but not mandatory if you have strong management experience from customer service, sales, or hospitality. We provide training and coaching to develop the necessary skills and support your professional growth.
Responsibilities
- Engage with prospects to showcase our communities: answer internet leads, phone calls, schedule appointments, and conduct tours.
- Process leasing applications, prepare lease paperwork, collect security deposits, and facilitate lease signings.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to residents, addressing needs such as lease renewals, notices to vacate, early terminations, pet additions, apartment transfers, and account inquiries.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams: inspect apartments for move-in readiness, monitor property needs, and follow up on work orders.
- Create a seamless move-in experience for new residents.
- Manage move-outs, including processing security deposit dispositions.
- Post rent payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Plan, prepare, and host resident activities.
- Lead and train team members, helping to accomplish property goals.
- Assist the Property Manager with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication Skills: You’re a great listener and can connect warmly and confidently with others, both in person and in writing.
- Customer-First Mindset: You enjoy helping people and solving problems, even in tough situations.
- Positive Energy: You bring enthusiasm and a can-do attitude every day, no matter the challenges.
- Team Spirit: You pitch in wherever needed, prioritizing team success over individual credit.

- Adaptability: You handle interruptions, shifting priorities, and fast-paced days with ease.
- Initiative: You’re proactive—whether greeting someone at the door or taking ownership of a task.
What to Expect
- High expectations paired with hands-on training to set you up for success.
- This is not a desk job—expect to be on your feet, engaging with prospects, walking the property, inspecting homes, and more.
- You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative team where recognition and promotion come from commitment and results.
- Occasional work outside standard hours may be required for resident events or weather-related support.
