About the role
The University of Washington Information School (iSchool) seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor in Data Science. This position will be expected to teach primarily in our Informatics program.
Responsibilities
- Teach primarily in the Informatics program, focusing on areas such as Data Visualization, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Data Science, Networking and Cloud Privacy in Data Science, and Data Engineering.
- Engage in teaching that demonstrates how technology can be designed to minimize and mitigate its harm to people, societies, and the environment.
- Participate in mentoring and providing career guidance to students.
- Contribute to the school's leadership and service activities.
Requirements
- PhD in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Information and Library Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Experience in teaching and mentoring students.
- Strong background in Data Science, including knowledge of Data Visualization, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Data Science, Networking and Cloud Privacy, and Data Engineering.
- Ability to teach effectively in a diverse educational setting.

Schedule
- The University of Washington operates on a quarter system (autumn, winter, spring), with teaching professors typically teaching two courses per quarter (6 courses over 9 months).
