Assistant Professor - Data Science

About the role

The College of Information - Department of Information Science at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Spring 2023. We are seeking exceptional candidates with interests in a wide range of topics within the theoretical, machine learning, and computational foundations of data science.

Responsibilities

• Teach, conduct research, and provide service in an academic position with emphasis in Data Science.
• Design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities in Data Science.
• Teach Data Science undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level courses and advise students in Data Science research.
• Work closely with doctoral students and serve on dissertation committees.

Requirements

• Demonstrate a record of research accomplishments.
• Ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities in Data Science.
• Teach Data Science undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level courses and advise students in Data Science research.
• Work closely with doctoral students and serve on dissertation committees.

Qualifications

• PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Research experience in Data Science.
• Experience teaching Data Science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with online and hybrid course delivery.

Pay

• $65,000 - $85,000 annually.
