About the role
The University of Washington Information School (iSchool) is seeking an Assistant Professor in Library and Information Science to join its teaching faculty starting September 1, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Engage in creative, collaborative, and forward-thinking instruction
- Develop a deep understanding of social and ethical dimensions and issues in LIS
- Use data and digital technologies to empower diverse communities and advance informational justice
- Contribute to the Information School’s interdisciplinary approach to understanding and addressing systemic challenges
- Incorporate LIS practices and theory in teaching
- Deliver courses in both residential and online environments
- Participate actively within the Information School community
Requirements
- Substantial experience in LIS practice
- A rich professional network to leverage in support of student learning experiences (e.g., directed fieldwork, capstones, internships)
- Professional or scholarly expertise in Knowledge Organization, Youth Services, Archives and Special Collections, or Intellectual Freedom
- Contribute to at least one of the Information School’s strategic areas: climate change, health and wellness, healthy information environments, or responsibility in artificial intelligence

Skills
