Assistant Professor of Politics

Mount Holyoke College seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in American public law, starting July 1, 2027.

About the role

The Department of Politics invites applications from scholars who contextualize the operation of law and courts within the changing political and institutional environment of the United States. All methodological approaches to the study of American law and politics are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Teach two courses per semester (four per year), including an introductory course on American politics and a constitutional law/civil liberties sequence.
• Offer additional courses aligned with an active research agenda.
• Teach research methods (preferred but not required).
• Contribute to student advising after the first year.

Requirements

• PhD or ABD in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated record of strong teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Experience mentoring students diverse in race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, disability, and religion.

Pay

Minimum starting salary: $90,000.
