The Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 16, 2027. Applicants should specialize in American Politics and be able to teach undergraduate research methods. Specializations within the American Politics subfield are open, but the department seeks candidates with expertise in some combination of political behavior (e.g., voting, public opinion, race and ethnic politics), institutions (e.g., presidency, legislatures, courts), and/or public policy.

Teaching load
The normal teaching load is nine credit hours per semester. The individual in this position is expected to teach 3 courses each semester for the Department of Politics and Government.
Appointment details
The position is a nine-month, tenure track appointment with the possibility of summer teaching. The locus of annual evaluation, tenure, and promotion in rank will be in the department of Politics and Government.
