Assistant Professor of Political Science
Marist University’s Political Science Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science in International Relations and Public Policy, beginning Fall 2027.
About the Role
The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in international relations (including political economy) and public policy (including global health and healthcare policy), as well as classes broadly across the discipline. The teaching load is 3–4 courses per semester; faculty who achieve and maintain an outstanding record of scholarship may be eligible for a reduced 3–3 load. In addition to teaching and research, faculty participate regularly in service activities for students, the university, and the community.
Requirements
- PhD in Political Science in hand before the start date of the appointment.
- Teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness at the college level.

Typical eligibility: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist University.

- Tuition Benefits:
- Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester for employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
- Up to 18 graduate credits per academic calendar.
- University pays 100% tuition only.
- Eligible dependents may be reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
Eligibility requirements, including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods, may apply at the discretion of the University.
Pay
$75,000 – $80,000 per year.
Schedule
9-month academic year. Work schedule includes time for teaching, office hours, departmental/school activities, and other responsibilities as needed. Flexible work schedule; course schedule varies each semester.

The Political Science Department includes 8 faculty members and offers a BA and a Minor in Political Science. The department contributes substantially to interdisciplinary programs in Africana Studies, American Studies, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. It is housed in the School of Liberal Arts, which also includes departments in English, History, World Languages & Cultures, and Philosophy & Religious Studies, as well as the Hudson River Valley Institute and the Marist Institute for Public Opinion.
