Job Summary

The Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) invites applications for a Tenure Track, full-time, renewable Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor position within the Emergency and Critical Care Section of the UW Veterinary Care Hospital.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Tenure track faculty at the University of Wisconsin are expected to participate in clinical and didactic teaching of veterinary students, interns, and residents;

  • participate in continuing education programs;

  • conduct basic science or clinical research that advances academic clinical practice.

Duties

  • Up to 12 weeks of clinical coverage and teaching

  • Training and supervision of residents and interns

  • Clinical teaching of 4th year veterinary students

Non-Clinical Teaching Responsibilities

  • Didactic teaching

  • Laboratory course teaching

Research Responsibilities

  • Contribute and participate in clinical research in the ECC section

  • 45-50% of effort

Service Responsibilities

  • Involvement in committees at the department, school, university, and professional organization levels

  • Participation in continuing education programs for veterinary practitioners in Wisconsin

Required Qualifications

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC or ECVECC)

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Wisconsin by start date

  • A documented track record of academic productivity or demonstrated potential to develop an independent research program in a basic science or clinically-oriented research field relevant to veterinary emergency medicine and/or critical care medicine

  • Aptitude or experience in clinical instruction of DVM students, interns, and residents is also expected

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic experience or relevant practice experience beyond residency training and DVM (or equivalent) degree is preferred but not mandatory

Compensation

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience
