About the role
The clinical practice associated with this position will be for elective general surgery, emergency general surgery, and surgical intensive care unit. The Acute Care Surgery Service is based out of East Jefferson General Hospital in the metro New Orleans area. East Jefferson General Hospital is the main teaching hospital for Tulane University School of Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Help grow and expand an elective general surgery practice, with opportunity to do robotic or minimally invasive cases.
- SICU duties will include post-operative abdominal transplant patients, acute care surgery patients, as well as post-operative care of other subspecialties like surgical oncology, ENT, orthopedics.
- Additional responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate medical education.
- Applicants should have special interest in basic science and/or clinical research.
Requirements
The candidate must have completed residency training in general surgery and be board certified or board eligible in general surgery. A strong commitment to teaching and research is essential.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in academic medicine and a demonstrated ability to teach and mentor residents and medical students. Experience with robotic or minimally invasive surgery is preferred but not required.
Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are required.
