Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Emergency Medicine
Position Summary
Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Health Medical Group seek a strong academic leader for the Division Chief of Point of Care Ultrasound within the Department of Emergency Medicine. Candidates must be board certified in Emergency Medicine, fellowship trained or hold a focused practice designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasound. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Indiana and have a background in leadership, scholarship and teaching. Demonstrated leadership ability is essential. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment is highly preferred. This individual will be responsible for leading a group of emergency ultrasound faculty, including pediatric emergency ultrasound faculty, who staff the emergency departments at IU Health Methodist, Eskenazi Health and Riley Hospital for Children. The division houses fellowships in Advanced Emergency Ultrasound and Pediatric Emergency Ultrasound. The emergency ultrasound division provides leadership, curricular development and hands-on teaching for the 4th year medical student Emergency Medicine clerkship, the categorical EM residency program, the Pediatric EM fellowship. The IU School of Medicine is the largest medical school in the U.S. with 9 campuses and over 1,600 students. The EM residency program has 21 residents/year as well as combined 2 residents/year in the EM/Pediatric combined residency program. Division faculty members also serve as system-wide POCUS medical directors for both IU Health and Eskenazi Health.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidates must have an MD or DO and be board certified in Emergency Medicine with the ability to obtain a license to practice medicine in Indiana.
- Candidates must have at least 3 years of professional time spent in clinical practice and 3 years of leadership experience.
Additional Qualifications
- Candidates must have a background in leadership, scholarship and teaching.
- Demonstrated leadership ability is essential.
- Experience working in a culturally diverse environment is highly preferred.
