About the role

The Department of Surgery, Section of Colorectal Surgery is seeking a fellowship-trained colorectal surgeon for the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients.
  • Participate in teaching activities of the Department including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds.
  • Teach students and residents in the operating room, clinics, and in-patient services.
  • Contribute to continuing medical education and attend local, regional, and national meetings.
  • Assume administrative responsibilities including supervising and evaluating residents and students and participating in committee memberships at the Departmental and Health System levels.

Requirements

  • Board eligible or board certified in surgery and colon and rectal surgery by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
  • Outstanding clinical skills, a collaborative spirit, compassion, and a desire to provide high-quality care.
  • A graduate of an accredited medical school, completed an accredited general residency training program, completed an accredited Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship, and hold a Texas Medical license without restrictions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum MD degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completed an accredited general surgery residency program.
  • Completed an accredited Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in surgery and colon and rectal surgery.
  • Hold a valid Texas Medical license without restrictions.
