Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment - Colon & Rectal Surgery
About the role
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery is seeking to recruit an academic surgeon to join our team. The major criteria for appointment are excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service.
Prerequisites
- Board-certification or board-eligibility in Colon and Rectal Surgery or in Complex General Surgical Oncology with a focused experience in the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with Colon, Rectal, and Anal Cancer.
- A strong commitment to clinical excellence, mentorship, scholarship and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical expertise in colon and rectal surgical care in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Maintain the programmatic excellence of our comprehensive colon and rectal cancer program.
- Educate the trainees in our Advanced Colon and Rectal Surgical Oncology, Complex General Surgery Oncology, or affiliated residency and fellowship programs.
- Develop a robust clinical, health services, data and informatics, or translational science research program.
Qualifications
- Substantial scholarly activity and a high likelihood of obtaining extramural funding to support their scholarly activity.

Schedule
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
