About The Role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is experiencing a period of expansion and is seeking exceptional candidates to join the faculty. The Neuroanesthesia and Perioperative Neurosciences Division provides perioperative care to patients undergoing elective and emergency neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures at University of Miami Hospital (560 beds), Jackson Memorial Hospital (1,550 beds), and Ryder Trauma Center (treats approximately 5,000 patients annually). The division ensures optimum perioperative care through strong multidisciplinary collaboration with neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical services. The division also supports world-leading programs at the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial, reinforcing our commitment to saving and improving lives globally.

More than 1,000 spine, 1,000 neurological, and 300 neuro-interventional procedures are performed annually under our care.

Requirements

  • Completion of a US-approved residency in Anesthesiology.
  • Minimum of one year of Neuro-anesthesiology fellowship training or equivalent training and certification (equivalence determined on a case-by-case basis).
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology.

Research experience is highly desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality clinical care, education, and research.
  • Engage in academic activities, including clinical/basic research and medical education.
  • Supervise residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs.
  • Perform cases independently when required.
  • Participate in departmental academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, as well as attending departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
  • Teach residents, fellows, and medical students.
  • Perform some clinical work in general anesthesia as needed by the department.

Effort distribution may change based on department needs, candidates' interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding.

Pay

Compensation depends on years of experience and determination of professorial rank at the time of hiring.
