Assistant Professor of Clinical - Anesthesiology, Pain Management
The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is undergoing expansion and seeks exceptional candidates to join the Pain Medicine faculty. Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients suffering from a wide variety of acute and chronic pain conditions, including cancer-related pain, spine pain, neuropathic, and musculoskeletal pain.
- Utilize various treatment modalities, including medication management, interventional procedures, and referrals to physical therapy and other specialties.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary specialties, such as Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Hematology/Oncology, PM&R, physical therapy, and behavioral health.
- Perform fluoroscopically guided and ultrasound-guided spine and peripheral procedures, including spine and joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve blocks, and interventional modalities with implantable devices such as spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal delivery systems.
- Supervise residents, Pain Medicine Fellows, and ARNPs.
- See patients and perform procedures independently when required.
- Participate in the department's academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, outpatient pain job duties, and participating in departmental conferences, committees, and faculty meetings.
- Engage in academic scholarly activities, including research (desirable).
This position is mainly based on providing chronic outpatient pain services in clinics affiliated with the University of Miami Health System. The effort distribution may change based on department needs, candidate's interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding for research.
Requirements
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology and an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pain Medicine.
- Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology and Board Eligibility or Certification for Added Qualification in Pain Medicine (equivalence to board certification can be determined on a case-by-case basis).
- Research experience and teaching are highly desirable but not required.
Pay
Compensation depends on years of experience and the determination of professorial rank at the time of hiring.
