The West Virginia University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences seeks to fill one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank. Candidates with innovative research programs focused on fundamental mechanisms underlying human ocular disease are particularly sought.
About the role
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is expanding its faculty with a position at the Assistant Professor rank (tenure-track) in the area of vision research. Investigators with innovative research programs that demonstrate strong translational potential to advance the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of blinding diseases, including, but not limited to, retinal diseases, glaucoma, and corneal disorders, will be given the highest priority.
Responsibilities
- Develop an extramurally funded research program
- Be an active participant in department and school-wide research forums and seminars
- Teach in undergraduate, graduate and/or professional programs
Requirements
- PhD and/or MD plus three (3) years of highly productive postdoctoral research
Qualifications
Startup packages are highly competitive, and salaries include a significant state-funded component. Successful candidates may be eligible to participate in an NIH-funded, mentored career development program at WVU and may apply for funding from the Visual Sciences Center of Biomedical Research Excellence.
