About the Role

This position provides faculty support to meet the teaching, research, and patient care needs of the Department of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and assists in fulfilling UTMB’s threefold mission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients.
  • Participate in all teaching activities of the Department, including conferences, lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds.
  • Supervise house staff in the operating room, clinics, and in-patient services.
  • Engage in continuing medical education and attend local, regional, and national meetings.
  • Teach medical students, house staff, nursing students, and allied health students.
  • Perform administrative duties, including supervising and evaluating residents, providing medical direction, and participating in committee memberships at the Department and Health System level.

Requirements

  • DDS/DMD degree, with or without an MD, from a CODA-accredited US or Canadian dental school.
  • Completion of a CODA-approved Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
  • Board certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Eligibility for a Texas Dental License.

Fellowship training in TMJ and orthognathic surgery is desired but not required.

Location: Angleton Danbury, Lake Jackson, Clear Lake, League City, and Galveston Campuses.
