Assistant Professor Clinical Practice, Surgery-Oral Surgery
About the role
The purpose of this position is to provide faculty support to meet the teaching, research, and patient care needs of the Department of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and assist in fulfilling UTMB’s threefold mission.
Responsibilities
The person in this position is responsible for providing direct patient care, including surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients.
- Participates in all teaching activities of the Department including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds
- House staff supervision in the operating room, clinics, and in-patient services
- Continuing medical education
- Local, regional, and national meetings
Students include medical students, house staff, nursing students, and allied health students. Administrative responsibilities include supervising and evaluating residents, providing medical direction, and participating in committee memberships at the Department and Health System level.
Qualifications
- DDS/DMD degree, with or without an MD, from a CODA-accredited US or Canadian dental school
- Completion of a CODA-approved Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program
- Board certification
- Eligibility for a Texas Dental License
Fellowship training in TMJ and orthognathic surgery is desired but not required for the job.
