Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Promote the mission of UHealth in achieving its role in providing medical education, research, and quality patient care.
- Participate in international, national, regional and local activities within the health care industry, which impact the future role of the Divisional Surgical Areas funding environment.
- Participate in Oral Surgery Service and residency training.
- Serve in key activities for the Department of Surgery as agreed upon with the Division Chief.
- Provide clinical care in all aspects of oral maxillofacial surgery.
- Work collaboratively with the other physicians in the division.
- Supervise residents both at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and the Miami Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
- Teach students in both junior and senior elective programs as sponsored by this Division within the students’ surgical experience.
- Pursue protocols to fund experiments under their supervision.
- Document all services in patient medical records.
- Comply to Departmental Policy & Procedures & Hospital Bylaws.
- Exercise final medical judgment in all issues of healthcare.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Adequate academic record.
- Recognized teaching skills and expertise in residency, fellowship, and medical student training.
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatments.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper bedside manner.
- Perform in tactful and professional manner.
Education Requirements
- A DDS or DMD degree.
- Completed a CODA-accredited advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and be board-certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
- Completed a Fellowship in Temporomandibular Joint Surgery.
- Florida Medical or Dental License and a DEA certificate.
