About the role

The University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston is seeking an Assistant Professor to serve as the Oral Surgery Residency Program Director for the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide faculty support to meet the teaching, research, and patient care needs of the Department of Surgery.
  • Fulfill UTMB’s threefold mission by providing direct patient care, including surgery, consultative services, outpatient services, and care of hospitalized patients.
  • Participate in all teaching activities of the Department, including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching, and rounds.
  • Supervise and evaluate residents, provide medical direction, and participate in committee memberships at the Department and Health System level.
  • Teach and supervise residents in the Oral and Maxillofacial program, provide direct patient care, including on-call coverage, and engage in research programs.
  • Engage in administrative activities related to the position.

Requirements

  • Completion of a CODA approved Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
  • Board certification.
  • Eligibility for a Texas Dental License.

Qualifications

  • DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited US or Canadian dental school.

Skills

  • Excellent teaching and clinical skills.
  • Strong leadership and administrative abilities.
  • Experience with oral and maxillofacial surgery.
