Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

About the role

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking a part-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) to teach OMFS residents both hospital-based, and office-based surgical care. Hospital-based care will include orthognathic and reconstructive surgery, including surgical and non-surgical treatment of TMJ disorders. In addition, the position will involve comprehensive care of facial trauma patients. Office-based care will involve the full scope of office-based surgery to include alveolar surgery and implant surgery.

Responsibilities

• High level of supervision of OMFS residents in office-based and hospital-based, as well as research efforts in these areas.
• Allocation of effort is 45% education, 5% research, 45% clinical, and 5% institutional service.

Qualifications

• Completion of Dental Degree (optional medical degree).
• Completion of the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited OMFS residency program.
• Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Tennessee Dental license (optional medical), Tennessee OMFS specialty license, Tennessee general anesthesia license.

Departmental Preferences

• Completion of CODA-accredited residency with fellowship training and/or significant experience in orthognathic, trauma, reconstruction and TMJ surgery.
• Expertise in office-based surgery and sedation procedures.
• Expertise in orthognathic surgery, trauma surgery, reconstructive surgery, benign pathology and comprehensive care of patients with TMJ disorders.
