Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (Open Rank)
About the role
The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nephrology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has an opening for a 1.0 FTE/0.9 cFTE open rank faculty member to provide inpatient and outpatient services in support of our clinical programs at the Children's Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs, and Anschutz campuses.
Responsibilities
- Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs.
- Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
- Records physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
- Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
- Oversees mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff.
- Orders studies, test and ancillary services.
- Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records.
- Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with regulatory standards.
- Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.
- Aids in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients.
- May refer patients to specialized health resources for treatment.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic screening tests according to protocol.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology
- Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure and DEA certification in the State of Colorado prior to start date
- Clinical experience with complex kidney disease
Qualifications
- Assistant Professor: 1-6 years of related faculty-level or equivalent experience
- Associate Professor: 6-10 years of related faculty-level or equivalent experience
- Professor: 10+ years of related faculty-level or equivalent experience
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.

Pay
Hiring Range: Assistant Professor: $181,220-$195,345; Associate Professor: $217,345-$236,140; Professor: $285,475-$310,563
